Swing Trading Forex: Holding Positions for Several Days
Plan swing trades with higher-timeframe structure, wider stops, overnight costs, and fewer decisions.
Swing trading aims to capture multi-day movement. It requires patience, lower position frequency, and enough room for normal market fluctuation.
Finding the Setup
Use daily or H4 structure to identify direction, then wait for a pullback into a meaningful area. H1 or H4 confirmation can refine the entry without overreacting to short-term noise.
Stops are generally wider than scalping stops, so lot size must be smaller for the same monetary risk.
Holding Risk
Consider swap, weekend gaps, major news, and correlated exposure. A position that looks small individually may become significant when several pairs share the same currency bias.
Use alerts and scheduled reviews rather than watching every tick. The management timeframe should match the setup timeframe.
Practical Checklist
- Size from the wider stop.
- Check swap and event risk.
- Manage on the setup timeframe.
